From Cargèse to the Capo Rosso
Four towers, one on every important
rocky overhangs, watch over this part of the
coastal, hence the name of "Terre des Quatre-Tours" given to this territory.
The Tower of Cargèse
The road who leaves the village and goes up to the television relay station,
ends, 15
minutes later, in the tower of Cargèse. The point of view is splendid.
The Tower of Ominia
The secondary road number 81 continues in the north, inside the lands, but
small
roads allow to get to the beaches below, whose the one of the Pero,
dominated at 20
metres high, by the Tower of Ominia.
The Mission of the "Casabianca"
Once level with the gulf of Chiuni, the road disappears inside the lands in
a desolated
lanscape. At the bridge of Chiuni, a plaque commemorates the incursion of
the
submarine "Casabianca", taken by the commandant Lherminier in the creek
neighbouring Topidi. It's there that the agents of the Free French Forces
made
contact with the corsican Resistance in December 1942.
The Tower of Orchino
The secondary road number 81 serves then the beautiful beach of Chiuni. From
there
a path takes in 20 minutes to the Tower, built at the XVII century, who
towers on the
top of Orchinu. It is contemporary with the fitting out of the Greeks.
The Tower of Turghio
It's in the Capo Rosso that the mountain, since the Monte Tozzo, falls in
the sea in
cliffs. From this rocky overhang made of red "Porphyre", the Tower of
Turghio,
restored, sits imposingly at the summit, 331 metres high.
